Yabbies

Ok here are some interesting facts about Yabbies.
They are native to Australia, and are freshwater crustacean.
The adult size of a Yabbie is 4.7 inches, sometime they can be
bigger as much as 7 inches, and can be found in small creeks
or dams.

You can eat them, but i have never tired one.  Some people make will
make a salad and put some yabbies in.

In the school holidays over here you will often see young kids trying to
catch them.  You can keep them as pets.

The mother yabbie will often eat some of there babies. They can walk
backwards with there tail tucked in.

If they loose there claw they can regrown the claw back, thats why you will
sometimes see one small claw and one big claw.

So if your from Australia or just visiting, why don't you take your children to a
creek or a dam and see if you can catch a Yabbie.

Please leave a comment and tell me what you think about today's post, or if there
is any Australian animal you would like to know more about.

I do hope you like the pictures i find them very interesting.
